Apeejay College and FICCI FLO Amritsar Empower BPL Youth Through Skill Enhancement Programme

Apeejay College

Jalandhar September 17 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, under the guidance of Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra, in collaboration with FICCI FLO Amritsar under the visionary leadership of Chairperson Ms Mona Singh, successfully conducted a one-month Skill Enhancement Programme. This initiative was part of FLO’s national STEM drive, aimed at encouraging more and more youth to pursue fields related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and to empower students from Below Poverty Line (BPL) families with digital skills for today’s professional world.

Ten deserving students were offered free access to specialised digital training, made possible through the generous support of Ms Ashna Kedia, whose contribution played a pivotal role in bringing this impactful programme to life.

The programme featured three industry-oriented courses: Video Editing & VFX, introducing AI-powered tools to streamline workflows and enhance content; Graphic Design & Illustration, focusing on creative principles and AI-driven applications to boost productivity; and Website Design & Digital Marketing, equipping students with SEO, social media management, and AI-enabled analytics for effective campaigns. The integration of Artificial Intelligence across the curriculum familiarised students with technologies transforming the creative sector, enabling them to automate processes, make data-driven decisions, and amplify creativity.

The programme was led by a dedicated faculty team

Blending classroom sessions, workshops, and project-based learning, the initiative ensured students gained both technical competence and the confidence to apply it. The programme was led by a dedicated faculty team including Mr Ankit Goel, Course Coordinator, along with Ms Rachita Jain, Ms Anjali Rathore, and Mr Chitraksh Luthra from the Department of Multimedia.

Reflecting on the initiative, Principal Dr Neerja Dhingra remarked, “At Apeejay, we create opportunities for every student, irrespective of their socio-economic background. Partnering with FICCI FLO Amritsar under the leadership of Ms Mona Singh, and supported by the generosity of Ms AshnaKedia (JT. Secretary FICCI FLO, Asr) has enabled us to extend professional learning to those who need it most and prepare them to be future-ready.”

The programme concluded with students showcasing final projects—video reels, graphic designs, websites, and digital campaigns—demonstrating the creativity and confidence gained during the training. Dr Dhingra also praised the outstanding efforts of the P.G. Department of Multimedia in executing this initiative, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to education, digital literacy, and self-reliance among underprivileged youth.
