Jalandhar October 16 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- A grand three-day live painting workshop was organized at Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, under the joint aegis of Apeejay Education, the North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), and the Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi. The live painting workshop was attended by several distinguished guests, including Mr. Deepak Bali, Advisor to the Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Government of Punjab; Mrs. Kamlesh, Programme Officer at the North Zone Cultural Centre; Mr. Sumit Dua, President of the Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi; and Mr. Basudeb Biswas, Vice-President of the Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi.
Welcoming everyone to this live painting workshop, ‘Rangla Punjab’, Dr. Sucharita Sharma, Director of Apeejay Education, stated that it is through the inspiration and encouragement of the Founder-President of Apeejay Education, Dr. Stya Paul, and his daughter, Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia—President of Apeejay Education and the Apeejay Stya & Svran Group, and Chancellor of Apeejay Stya University—that we are able to engage in various forms of fine arts and bring together accomplished artists from various disciplines onto a single platform. While welcoming Shri Deepak Bali, who was present as the chief guest at this live painting workshop, he remarked that we are all well-acquainted with the various responsibilities and contributions of Shri Bali across diverse spheres of public life. He is truly a multifaceted personality, capable of working across various fronts with remarkable energy and commitment. He is not only an accomplished speaker and a compassionate human being, but, above all, a genuine admirer of art and culture.
She also mentioned how it was such a great honor to have him present today. She also extended a special, warm welcome to Mr. Sumeet Dua—an accomplished artist in his own right, and a staunch supporter of the arts and artists. Despite financial constraints, he undertook this commendable initiative to bring artists together on a common platform. His commitment to nurturing creativity and providing a stage for exceptional artists is truly praiseworthy.
Dr. Sucharita Sharma also extended a welcome to Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Smt. Kamlesh, and Shri Basudeb Biswas. Reflecting on the vibrant, rainbow-like spectrum of colors, Shri Sumit Dua remarked that an artist is someone who captures the essence of the present day through their creative work. He emphasized that artists should prioritize emotional depth in their creations, ensuring that their art conveys a positive message to future generations. Expressing his thoughts on the ‘Rangla Punjab’ (Vibrant Punjab) theme, he remarked that while Punjab is abundant with lush green fields, five rivers, and natural beauty, it is also intertwined with many painful memories; he added that it is our task to encompass all of these and express them through our paintings.
Dr. Neerja Dhingra remarked that such events are undoubtedly made possible through the constant creative vision
In this live painting workshop, prominent artists from Punjab—Shri Jaspal Singh, Shri Anil Gupta, Smt. Gurjan Pal, Dr. Jeevan Dureja, Dr. Rimpy Agarwal, Shri Rajesh Kalsi, Dr. Gagan Gambhir, Shri Harinder Bhatti, Smt. Suruchi Sharma, and Shri Pawan Kumar—will express their inner thoughts and emotions through their paintings. Expressing her gratitude to the distinguished guests, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra remarked that such events are undoubtedly made possible through the constant creative vision and encouragement of our Founder President, Dr. Stya Paul; his daughter, Smt. Sushma Paul Berlia; and his granddaughter, Dr. Neha Berlia—who serves as a Co-owner and Director of the family business board (Apeejay Stya & Svran Group) and leads the education vertical for Apeejay Education.
On this occasion, she also expressed her gratitude to Mr. Sumit Dua and Mrs. Kamlesh. While thanking Dr. Sucharita Sharma, she remarked that it is precisely her vision and dedication towards the fine arts that enable us to bring exceptional artists together on a single platform. She further noted that the fact that Apeejay College is now a leading institution in the field of fine arts in North India is a testament to her persistent hard work and encouragement.
On this special occasion, Shri Deepak Bali, Shri Sumit Dua, Madam Kamlesh, and Shri Basudeb Biswas were honored with the presentation of mementos. This painting workshop will be held from October 16–17 through October 19, running daily from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
