Over 500 Students Participate in 17th Inter-School Tech Fest at Apeejay College of Fine Arts

Jalandhar October 1 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The 17th Inter-School Tech Fest, organised by the IT Forum of the PG Department of Computer Science, Apeejay College of Fine Arts (ACFA), Jalandhar, witnessed enthusiastic participation from more than 500 students representing various schools across Punjab.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. Vijay Mahajan, Owner, Tagore Hospital, as the Chief Guest, while Mr. Nirmal Mahajan, Member, Board of Governors, Apeejay Education, Jalandhar, was present as the Special Guest.

The programme commenced with Vande Mataram. Welcoming the distinguished guests, Dr. Neerja Dhingra, Principal, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, said that their presence would certainly encourage and inspire the students who had gathered from different schools across Punjab to participate in the Tech Fest.

Dr. Dhingra stated that Apeejay College of Fine Arts, inspired by the vision of its Founder President Dr. Stya Paul, under the guidance of Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Chancellor, Apeejay Stya University and Chairperson, Apeejay Education, and with the encouragement of Dr. Neha Berlia, Co-owner & Director, Family Business Board, Apeejay Stya & Svran Group and Lead, Education Vertical, Office Bearer, Apeejay Education, continues to organise high-quality academic, cultural and co-curricular events that provide students with meaningful opportunities for holistic development.

Speaking about Mrs. Sushma Paul Berlia, Dr. Dhingra said that under her visionary guidance, Apeejay College has reached new heights not only in academics and fine arts but also in the field of cultural activities.

The inaugural ceremony formally commenced with the presentation of floral bouquets to the dignitaries, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. Students of the Department of Music, under the guidance of Dr. Amita Mishra, presented Kabir’s dohas through a soulful musical rendition, creating an atmosphere of devotion and spirituality.

A video showcasing the college’s 50-year journey of growth and achievements, based on the theme “Soaring High Is My Nature”, was also screened. Ms. Rajni Kumar from the Department of Interior Design apprised the gathering of the college’s major achievements and milestones.

Addressing the students, Mr. Vijay Mahajan said that it was a privilege for him to interact with such talented young students. Appreciating the manner in which the college has preserved and carried forward its rich legacy, he said that the fundamental purpose of education is to create a good human being through the confluence of Satyam, Shivam and Sundaram. He further emphasised that imparting good values and virtues to students would help lay the foundation of a better society. He congratulated all the participants and wished them success in the various competitions.

Dr. Dhingra mentioned that the Tech Fest is eagerly awaited not only by the students of the college, who get an opportunity to understand the nuances of event management, but also by schools across Punjab, which participate in the fest with great enthusiasm every year.

As many as 20 competitions were organised during the Tech Fest, including Business Plan Presentation, Play with Clay, Painting on the Spot, General Quiz Bonanza, Gaming, Picture Captioning, Poster Presentation, Photography, Group Dance, Gustakhi Maaf, Website Development, Programming Skills, Declamation, Poetical Recitation, Theme-Based Modelling, Mobile App Idea Presentation, T-Shirt Painting, Rangoli, Cooking and News Reading. Experts and accomplished alumni of the college, specialising in their respective fields, were invited to judge the various competitions.

The Championship Trophy was won by Apeejay School, Mahavir Marg, which secured 65 marks. Swami Sant Das Public School and MGN Urban Estate, Jalandhar, jointly secured the second position with 40 marks each, while Apeejay School, Model Town, secured the third position with 21 marks. The winning teams were congratulated for their impressive performance and enthusiastic participation throughout the Tech Fest.

Adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the event, 14 students of the Department of Performing Arts, under the direction of Dr. Micky Verma, presented a spectacular choreography based on Ganesh Stuti, captivating the audience with their graceful and energetic performance.

Mrs. Supriya Katoch, former Vice-Principal of Our Lady of Snows School, Kullu, was also present as a Special Guest at the Tech Fest.

Appreciating the efforts behind the successful organisation of the event, Dr. Neerja Dhingra lauded the contributions of Dr. Roopali Sood, Dr. Monika Anand, Dr. Jagmohan Mago, Dr. Rekha, Dr. Munish Gupta and Ms. Pallavi Mehta. She expressed the hope that the team would continue to organise such grand, enriching and meaningful events in the future, providing students with platforms to showcase their talent, creativity and technical skills.

The 17th Inter-School Tech Fest concluded on a high note, celebrating innovation, creativity, talent and the spirit of healthy competition, while further strengthening the college’s commitment to nurturing confident, creative and socially responsible young minds.
