Jalandhar September 29 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Department of Punjabi of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, organised an Essay Writing Competition to commemorate Vishav Punjabi Divas’. The competition was centred on the present Status of the Punjabi Language and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 37 students representing different classes of the college.
The competition was aimed at sensitising students to the contemporary status of Punjabi language and providing them with a platform to reflect upon the challenges confronting its growth and preservation. It also encouraged them to articulate their ideas and suggest meaningful measures for strengthening the position of Punjabi in the present linguistic and cultural landscape.
In the competition, Navdeep of B.Sc. Non-Medical Semester I secured first position. Sadhna and Muskaan of B.A. Semester jointly secured second position, while Sakshi of B.Sc. Non-Medical Semester I and Mansi of B.Sc. Economics Semester I jointly secured third position.
On the occasion, President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice President Shri Vinod Dada, other esteemed members of the Managing Committee, and Principal Dr. Pooja Prashar congratulated the achievers on their accomplishment. They also appreciated the Department of Punjabi for organising such meaningful academic activities that foster linguistic awareness, encourage creative expression, and nurture a deeper appreciation of the Punjabi language among students.
