Jalandhar September 24 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The NSS Unit of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organised a grand valedictory ceremony marking the successful culmination of its NSS@24:24 ‘Act of Service’ campaign, organised on the occasion of NSS Day. The campaign featured a series of 24 meaningful service-oriented activities aimed at fostering the spirit of volunteerism, social responsibility and community service among students.
Addressing the students on the occasion, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra appreciated the dedicated efforts of the NSS team and remarked that the manner in which the volunteers worked tirelessly, day and night, to complete the 24 service-oriented activities was truly exemplary. She said that such initiatives serve as an inspiration and encouragement for other students of the college to actively participate in acts of service.
Appreciating the theme NSS@24:24, Dr. Dhingra said that activities of this nature motivate young people to participate actively in nation-building and help them grow into responsible and compassionate citizens. She further observed that these 24 activities would certainly nurture the values of service, empathy and social harmony among students, thereby laying the foundation for a better and more harmonious future.

As part of the campaign, students undertook a wide range of activities, including a campus clean-up drive, dry and wet waste awareness, assisting in the library, decorating notice boards, expressing gratitude towards teachers, presenting ‘Thank You’ cards to the college staff, providing break and hydration time to gardeners, encouraging juniors to participate in college activities, engaging in fun activities with juniors, watering plants, contributing to lawn maintenance, conducting a wooden-waste disposal drive, switching off unnecessary lights, organising an anti-drug awareness rally, spreading awareness through poster campaigns, promoting healthy eating habits by encouraging students to prefer home-cooked food over junk food, conducting a 30-minute aerobics session, and organising a fitness challenge.
The students also collected donations during the fitness challenge and took the initiative to distribute the collected resources free of cost among people in need, thereby giving a meaningful dimension to the spirit of service.Dr. Dhingra congratulated the entire NSS Wing for the successful execution of the 24 activities and particularly appreciated the efforts of Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean, NSS Wing, for her dedicated leadership and guidance. She expressed the hope that Dr. Dev would continue to guide and motivate the students with the same enthusiasm and commitment in the future as well.
