Jalandhar September 19 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The NSS unit of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, organized various service activities to mark NSS Day under the theme ‘NSS@24:24 Acts of Service.’ Addressing the students on this occasion, Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra stated that the primary objective of NSS is the holistic development of students’ personalities and fostering sensitivity towards society. Appreciating the theme ‘NSS@24:24’, she stated that such activities inspire youth to actively participate in nation-building and help them become responsible citizens.
Dr. Simkee Dev, Dean of the NSS Wing, explained that the ‘Act of Service’ has been divided into seven parts. 1. A spirit of service towards the college; 2. Dedication to the college staff; 3. Goodwill towards classmates; 4. Being sensitive to the environment and sensitizing others; 5. Raising awareness among students against substance abuse; 6. Spearheading campaigns for physical and mental health among students; 7. Collaborating with organizations like ‘Goonj’ to collect stationery, rations, etc., from students and teachers and distributing them to the needy.
On this occasion, marking NSS Day 2026 which falls on September 24, students pledged to undertake 24 acts of service. The initiative aims to instill a spirit of social service, social responsibility, and selfless service among the students. Launching these 24 activities, the students began by conducting an e-waste campaign focused on environmental conservation. They collected e-waste from their homes to deposit with a designated official, ensuring that improper disposal does not lead to environmental pollution.
With a focus on environmental conservation, students from the NSS wing launched the BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) campaign, highlighting the threat that plastic bottles pose to the environment. Dr. Dhingra highly appreciated these service initiatives undertaken by the NSS wing and extended best wishes to the Dean of the NSS wing, Dr. Simkee Dev, and the students for the continued success of these activities.
