ACFA conducts One Day Photography and Videography Workshop

Jalandhar March 30 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar reaffirmed its focus on experiential learning by organising a one-day workshop on photography and videography for its students. The initiative was undertaken by the Department of Applied Art to provide students with practical insights into contemporary visual media practices.

Titled “Master the Art of Capturing Moments of Togetherness,” the workshop was conducted by renowned filmmaker and photographer and Master trainer, Canon India Naqsh Sharma. Addressing students from Applied Art, B.Design Multimedia, Bachelor of Fashion and Textile, and Journalism, he offered an in-depth understanding of photography as both an art and a profession. His session highlighted key elements such as composition, fashion photography, the effective use of natural light, and the nuanced skill of capturing emotions during events, particularly weddings. He emphasised that powerful imagery lies in observing subtle human expressions and translating them into compelling visual stories.

Complementing the session, Rajat from Canon, India familiarised students with the technical aspects of camera handling. He elaborated on essential camera functions, settings, and the importance of understanding equipment to achieve precision in photography. He emphasized that technical proficiency is as crucial as creative vision in mastering the craft.

Since photography forms an integral part of the curriculum for the participating courses, students engaged enthusiastically, raising queries and sharing their perspectives. Principal Dr. Neerja Dhingra lauded the initiative and congratulated the department on the successful organisation of the workshop. She remarked that such platforms are instrumental in bridging academic learning with industry expectations, thereby preparing students for professional excellence. She also appreciated the dedicated efforts of Mr. Anil Gupta, Mr. Rajesh Kalsi, and Mr. Ankit Goyal for their commendable contribution in organising the event.
