Jalandhar February 19 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal on Wednesday issued orders banning the use of loudspeakers in the vicinity of educational institutions and hospitals to ensure a peaceful environment for students and patients.

Divulging details, the Deputy Commissioner said it had come to his notice that the use of loudspeakers was causing inconvenience to students, particularly during examination days. He added that patients admitted to hospitals were also facing discomfort due to excessive noise. “These places have already been designated as silence zones, but despite this, the use of loudspeakers continues to create problems for the public,” he said.

Dr. Aggarwal emphasized that maintaining silence around such sensitive areas is essential for academic performance and patient recovery. He directed all concerned authorities to strictly enforce the ban and ensure compliance with the existing norms.

The Deputy Commissioner also instructed DJ owners to keep the sound of their systems within the prescribed limits. Warning of stern action in case of violations, he stated that the inventory and equipment of defaulters would be confiscated if authorities report non-compliance.

The district administration has urged residents to cooperate in maintaining decorum in silence zones.
