Jalandhar January 22 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya, Jalandhar organised a Poster/ Painting/Drawing Competition in association with Office of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Jalandhar, to create awareness among youth regarding voter registration and active participation in the democratic process on the occasion of National Voters’ Day, 2026. The competition was organized under the able guidance of Principal Dr. Ekta Khosla with the objective of sensitizing students, especially first-time voters, about the importance of voting and their role in strengthening democracy. Students participated enthusiastically and expressed their ideas creatively on the themes such as “Every Vote Counts”, “Power of Youth Vote”, “My Vote, My Right”, and “Democracy Begins with Me.”
The event witnessed active participation from students of different classes/departments and colleges. The competition not only enhanced students’ creative skills but also helped in spreading awareness among peers and the surrounding community. Dr. Ekta Khosla appreciated the efforts of Design and Fine Arts department and congratulated Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dr Rakhi Mehta, Dr .Neeru and Dr. Shailendra for taking this initiative. The members of the Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Jalandhar, Mr Ashok Sahota, Sweep Nodal Officer and Mr Surjit Lal, Secretary Distt Red Cross, Jalandhar were also present during the event.
In Poster Making, Ankita Jain (BFA 8th Sem, HMV, Jalandhar) secured first position, followed by Gurasis Kaur (BFA 4th Sem, HMV) and Mahi (M.A. Fine Arts 2nd Sem, Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar). In Drawing, Pooja (B.A. 6th Sem, Baba Sahib Bhim Rao Ambedkar Govt. Education College, Boota Mandi, Jalandhar) won first position, while Gurleen Kaur (B.Tech CSE 2nd Sem, GNDU Regional Campus) secured second position. In Painting, Lata (B.D. 2nd Sem, HMV) bagged first position, followed by Kiran and Nishtha, both from B.D. 2nd Semester, HMV, Jalandhar, securing second and third positions respectively.
