Jalandhar November 14 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar performed in grand manner in the Inter-Zonal Youth Festival of Guru Nanak Dev University and won the first runner-up trophy in the music events. 42 colleges of the university participated in this youth festival held at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Lyallpur Khalsa College participated in these competitions and secured a total of 63 marks. On this achievement of the college, Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President Governing Council congratulated Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur and her entire cultural team and students.
Principal Prof. Navdeep Kaur said under the able leadership of Sardarni Balbir Kaur, President College Governing Council and due to the hard work of all the staff and students, the college is consistently performing better in the cultural field along with studies. She further added that our student artists are bringing glory to the college in the country and abroad. Feeling proud of the talented students, she emphasized that college is committed to the development of the students in their education and other fields and assured the students of all kinds of help from the college.
10 teams of Lyallpur Khalsa College won the second and 13 teams won the third place
Dean Cultural Affairs Dr. Palwinder Singh said that 10 teams of Lyallpur Khalsa College won the second and 13 teams won the third place in the youth festival and won this trophy. He said that the college had also won the first runner-up trophy of ‘C-Zone’ in the zonal youth festival of the university.
Earlier, due to the tireless efforts of all the team in-charges and students, the college has won the overall trophies in the zonal youth festival of Guru Nanak Dev University in 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2018-19 and won the first runner-up and second runner-up trophies in the years 2016-17, 2017-18,2019-20, 2021-22, 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25. On this occasion, he thanked the entire Governing Council and College Leadership and congratulated the cultural team for these victories and wished them the same sincere cooperation in the future as well.
He credited this success to the hard work of the teacher-in-charges of all the teams, especially Dr. Navjot Kaur, Dr. Harjinder Singh Seikhon, Dr. Ajitpal Singh, Prof. Sukhdev Singh, Prof. Navneet Kaur, Prof. Satpal Singh, Dr. Amandeep Kaur, Dr. Surbjit Singh, Dr. Harjinder Kaur, Dr. Ravneet Kaur, Dr. Manju Joshi, Prof. Mandeep Singh Bhatia, Prof. Sandeep Singh, Prof. Jasdeep Singh, Prof. Rakhi Talwar, Prof. Kiran Amar, Prof. Mayuri, Prof. Sonia, Prof. Ritka, Prof. Sanjay Shad, Prof. Bhagwat Kumar, Prof. Amrita, Prof. Livpreet, Prof. Kamalpreet Kaur and other staff members and the dedication of the students.
He informed that the following item-wise victories have been achieved by the college:- Second place:- Giddha, Classical Instrument (Percussion), Classical Instrument (Non-Percussion), Ghazal, Costume Parade, Group Song, Group Shabad, War Singing, Rangoli; Third place:- Bhangra, Clay Modeling, Phulkari, Poster Making, Classical Dance, Western Group Song, Western Instrumental, Quiz, Skit, Painting, Classical Vocal, Folk-Orchestra, and Choreography.
