Jalandhar November 5 (Jaswinder Singh Azad)- The Disability Support and Inclusion Cell of PCM S.D. College for Women, Jalandhar, under the aegis of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully conducted a creative and eco-friendly workshop titled “Innovative Pedagogies for Environmental Sustainability” at the Red Cross School for the Deaf and Dumb, Maqsudan.
A total of 56 students from the Red Cross School enthusiastically participated in the event, showcasing their creativity by transforming discarded materials into useful and artistic items. The workshop aimed to promote environmental awareness and innovation through the concept of Best out of Waste, highlighting the importance of sustainability and recycling.
Faculty members Mrs. Priya, Mrs. Beenu, and Ms. Jyotsna from PCM S.D. actively participated in the event and guided the students throughout the activities.
Adding to the inclusive spirit of the program, NCC cadets Tanya Sehgal, Komal, Anjali, Neha, Himani, and Tania assisted the students during the workshop. They interacted with them through sign language, making the experience engaging, accessible, and enjoyable for all participants.
This initiative was a continuation of the college’s earlier collaborations with the Red Cross School, including workshops on Sign Language and Fine Arts, which were highly appreciated for empowering specially-abled students through skill-based learning.
President Shri Naresh Budhia, Senior Vice Shri Vinod Dada, other members of the managing committee and Principal Dr Pooja Prashar expressed that such activities not only foster environmental consciousness but also build self-confidence, creativity, and life skills among students with special needs. The event reflected the college’s strong commitment to inclusivity, sustainability, and community engagement.
The Indian Red Cross Society, Jalandhar, extended its support and appreciation for the college’s continuous efforts toward promoting social responsibility and holistic education.
